Mother's Day 2025: the pink pot and the set menus

Mother’s Day 2025 fell on Sunday 11 May, and the kitchen built a weekend around it. From Friday 9 May to Sunday 11 May 2025, the dining room at 39 Tyrwhitt Road served a special Mother’s Day menu, led by a dish in a pink cast-iron pot.

What was in the pink pot?

Steamed crab on glutinous rice, served in the pot at the table. The catalogue price was $288. The photograph the kitchen used shows a whole crab with its claws resting on the rim of a soft pink pot, steam rising, with a printed caption that reads “Mother’s Day Special Menu, Exclusively at 39 Tyrwhitt Road”. We hold no portion size for the pot, so we are not going to say how many people it feeds. If a similar pot appears again, ask the kitchen before you order.

What were the 5 course and 9 course menus?

The kitchen also ran a 5 course menu and a 9 course menu for the weekend. We have the names of those two menus and the dates they ran, and we do not have a record of the dishes or the prices. We have left them out rather than guess. If you were at the table, you know more than this page does.

How did you book Mother’s Day weekend?

Dine-in tables at the flagship are booked through the kitchen’s reservation page. The kitchen’s published reservation rules say that Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays need a small deposit. All three days of that weekend fall into that group, so anyone planning a visit should have expected a deposit. That is a general rule from the kitchen, not a statement about a specific Mother’s Day arrangement.

Why plan ahead for a crab occasion?

Mother’s Day is a Sunday, and the window ran across the whole weekend. Whole crab dishes ordered through the ordering site need a day’s notice, which is a good reason to treat any crab-led occasion as something to plan and not a walk-in whim.
