The Lotus Pie is a seasonal Mid-Autumn pie on the kitchen's ordering site, filled with white lotus paste, pine nuts and six salted egg yolks. On 3 October 2026 it was listed at an early bird price of $58.80 against a regular $78.80. Check whether it is still orderable before you plan around it.
On 3 October 2026 the kitchen’s ordering site listed a seasonal Mid-Autumn item called the Lotus Pie. This post writes down what the listing said, because seasonal items come and go and a record of what was offered is useful later.
What is in the Lotus Pie?
Three fillings, as the listing describes them: white lotus paste, pine nuts and six salted egg yolks. White lotus paste is the traditional smooth filling of the classic Cantonese-style mooncake, pine nuts add crunch and salted egg yolks add the savoury, golden centre that people look for in a Mid-Autumn pastry. We do not hold a diameter or weight for the pie, so we are not going to say how many slices it makes.
What did it cost?
The listing showed two prices: $58.80 as an early bird price, and $78.80 as the usual price. The difference is $20. Early bird pricing is time-limited by definition, and the date it ended is not on the listing we read, so we cannot tell you whether the lower price is still available as you read this. The ordering site is the place to check.
Is this the same thing as the Moon-Pie?
No, but they are close relatives. The kitchen’s 2024 Mid-Autumn offering was called the Moon-Pie. It was a single-serve pastry, sold singly or in a box of four, made with smooth yam paste (orh-nee) and pine nuts, with a single salted egg yolk inside a buttery, crumbly crust. It was made to order and freshly prepared in-house at 39 Tyrwhitt Road. The 2024 early bird prices were $18.80 for a single and $68.80 for a box of four, against regular prices of $20.80 and $78.80.
The pastry chef’s idea, as the kitchen’s page puts it, was to pair the familiar yam paste with a crust people already know and make it the kitchen’s own take on a Mid-Autumn pie. The 2026 Lotus Pie keeps the pie format and changes the filling to white lotus.
| Moon-Pie (2024) | Lotus Pie (2026 listing) | |
|---|---|---|
| Filling | Yam paste, pine nuts, one salted egg yolk | White lotus paste, pine nuts, six salted egg yolks |
| Format | Single or a box of four | One pie |
| Early bird | $18.80 single, $68.80 box of four | $58.80 |
| Regular | $20.80 single, $78.80 box of four | $78.80 |
Why does the kitchen use early bird prices?
Twice now, in 2024 and 2026, the Mid-Autumn item has carried an early bird price and a higher regular price. We read that as a pattern, not a promise. It is a good reason to order early for this season, and a poor reason to assume a discount is guaranteed for any other item. The Don Pie Club has no member pricing and this is not an exception to that.
How should you plan a Mid-Autumn order?
- Check availability first. Seasonal listings end, as the calendar of the year shows. The page we read is a snapshot, not a guarantee.
- Order ahead. Seasonal pies are advance orders, collected at the outlet you chose or delivered, and the ordering site does not allow amendments or cancellations after payment.
- Mind the allergens. The kitchen states that its products contain nuts, eggs, dairy and gluten. This pie names pine nuts and salted egg yolks in the listing, so check with the kitchen if either matters to you.
- Remember the dietary position. There is no pork and no lard in the kitchen, and the kitchen is not Halal-certified.
Update, 8 October 2026. The Mid-Autumn Festival fell on 25 September 2026, so the season has passed by the date of this update, and we have not confirmed whether the Lotus Pie is still on sale. The listing we read on 3 October 2026 is the evidence this post rests on. The prices are as of October 2026, and the ordering site has the current position.
